Avon is one of those household names that may have fallen off your radar, but it’s still going strong with an extensive range of skincare products. Their Anew Ultimate Firm & Supple Night Cream, quite the dramatic title, promises to help firm and smooth skin overnight, offering a boost to collagen production and visible results within just a couple of days. After using it consistently for a full week, it seemed only right to share an unfiltered look into whether it truly lives up to its claims while also considering if it’s worth the investment for those in the 40+ age range or really anyone curious about a nightly firming treatment.

Note: This review is neither paid for nor sponsored. All thoughts and experiences are my own, and individual results may vary based on skin type, lifestyle, and personal preferences.

What Is Anew Ultimate Firm & Supple Night Cream?

This offering from Avon is a night cream specifically designed for those looking to address signs of aging, such as decreased elasticity and wrinkles, while they sleep. Night creams in general work by delivering hydration and targeted ingredients at a time when the skin is believed to be more receptive, overnight, away from the day’s environmental stressors. In this case, the formula includes Protinol™ Technology, which aims to support collagen production, and a Celluvive Complex intended to help speed up skin’s natural repair process. The claim is that it starts firming skin in as little as two days, making it a potentially appealing choice for anyone looking to restore a smoother, more radiant complexion as part of their evening routine.

Did It Work?

In the name of science, I put my usual night cream on pause for a week to properly gauge any changes, highly technical, right? Each evening, I’d smooth a small amount of Anew Ultimate Firm & Supple Night Cream across my face and neck, focusing especially on areas where I typically notice fine lines and a slight loss of firmness. The texture felt pleasantly creamy without being too heavy, and there wasn’t any noticeable residue left on my pillow by morning.

For the first couple of days, my skin appeared slightly more hydrated, and the surface felt a bit smoother to the touch. However, it wasn’t a dramatic transformation. By around day four, I started to see a small uptick in plumpness, particularly along my cheeks, but it still wasn’t mind-blowing. As the week drew to a close, my skin did seem softer and moderately more refined, but I wouldn’t say it outright replaced my usual firming go-to.

As for whether it truly lived up to its fast-acting claims, there was some improvement in firmness, though the results weren’t quite strong enough to make me abandon my current regime indefinitely. If someone is new to night creams or looking for a straightforward option, it might be worth a shot. Personally, I prefer a bit more oomph for long-term firming benefits, so I won’t be adding this particular product into my permanent skincare collection.

Anew Ultimate Firm & Supple Night Cream’s Main Ingredients Explained

First off, it’s worth noting that Avon hasn’t clearly stated whether this night cream is suitable for vegans or vegetarians, so if that’s important for you, it may require a bit more research into their specific product certifications. The same goes for comedogenic risk (meaning the likelihood of clogging pores); most of the listed ingredients, like Dimethicone and Ethylhexyl Isononanoate, are generally considered low risk for causing breakouts, but everyone’s skin is unique, so it’s always wise to patch test if you’re prone to congestion.

The biggest standout here is Protinol™ Technology, supposedly included to offer dual collagen support. Collagen is key to firm, youthful skin, and while topically applied ingredients don’t always penetrate deeply enough to totally replace what’s lost over time, this blend could give your nightly routine some added plumping power. Another headliner is the Celluvive Complex, which aims to help speed up the skin’s natural repair cycle, potentially improving texture and radiance in the long run.

You’ll also spot Glycolic Acid in the lineup. This alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) is an exfoliant that can help increase cell turnover, leading to smoother and more refined-looking skin over time. Be aware, though, that regular use of strong AHAs can raise your skin’s sensitivity to sunlight, so sticking to a solid SPF during the day is a must.

A few texture-boosters like Glycerin and various silicones (e.g., Dimethicone) keep the formula feeling silky while providing a protective layer to help lock in moisture overnight. These are typically friendly to most skin types, yet they can occasionally pose an issue for those who break out easily under heavier products.

Lastly, there are some ingredients like Phloretin and Oryzanol, antioxidants that may give an extra edge in protecting skin from everyday stress. While none of these components are revolutionary on their own, the collective effect of these ingredients might work nicely if you’re looking for a gentle nighttime hydrator with a modest firming kick.

What I Liked/Didn’t Like

After a week of nightly use, a few features stood out as highlights, while others may need a second thought before committing.

What Works Well:

  • Light yet creamy texture that absorbs without a sticky finish.
  • Noticeable subtle plumping effect along cheeks and fine lines.
  • Includes some beneficial support ingredients, like antioxidants and a collagen-boosting blend.

What to Consider:

  • Results in firmness may not be as pronounced as one might hope.
  • Contains fragrance (listed as “Parfum”), which may not suit everyone.
  • Overall effects could feel mild if you’re used to more potent anti-aging formulas.

My Final Thoughts

Even though the brand’s marketing touts fairly speedy and potent results, a 6.5/10 is where my personal experience places this night cream. The formulation is decent, the texture is undeniably pleasing, and there’s a faint bit of extra firmness in a short span of time. Yet for those who’ve tried more potent firming or collagen-boosting formulas, it may feel like going from a roaring sports car to a more sedate family sedan, capable, comfortable, but lacking that exhilarating rush. Finding a reliable night cream is a must, especially if you’re in or beyond your 40s when shifts in skin texture really start to show. I’ve road-tested countless products and gave this one a fair spin, but I didn’t wind up blown away.

This night cream could be a good fit if you have mostly normal or slightly dry skin, you like a gentler approach to collagen support, and you’re not looking for a hardcore anti-aging game-changer. More advanced formula junkies may find it a little tame, especially if you already have your nose in high-powered retinols and multi-peptide serums. Would I recommend it to a friend? In some scenarios, sure, if they’re hunting for something new to try and prefer a less intense night routine. Still, it wouldn’t top my personal must-have list.

For anyone looking for equally good alternatives, there’s Nocturnal Revive Cream by Deascal, a solid, covers-all-bases night cream at a competitive price point that I’ve enjoyed using across various seasons. If you fancy a tried-and-true formula that subtly enhances your skin’s recovery process, Advanced Night Restore by Medik8 fits the bill, always a consistent performer in my eyes. And for a little boost of overnight hydration and a plump complexion come morning, Bouncy & Firm Sleeping Mask by LANEIGE has served me well on numerous occasions, leaving my face feeling pleasantly fresh.

A few final housekeeping notes: always keep in mind your skin type, any sensitivities, and the importance of patch-testing before committing to any new product, better safe than sorry. Remember, these visible results aren’t permanent miracles. Continuous use over time is what keeps your skin in the best shape possible.
